T20 World Cup Betting: Bangladesh v Ireland

These two sides are unlikely to be around at the business end of proceedings but they should put on a good show for the neutrals and give underdog backers a good run for their money, says Andrew Hughes.

"Bangladesh are [1.5] favourites but that is just too short a price to take about such a young and inconsistent team and Ireland look worth a punt at [3.5]."

Bangladesh didn't perform too badly against India on Saturday and are unlikely to make too many changes, though they may bring in spinner Abdur Razzak. Ireland have to decide whether to give a chance to promising 18 year old batsman Paul Stirling and will also have to choose who from their battery of seamers will miss out, and it may well end up being veteran Trent Johnston.

Conditions

An afternoon game should be a little warmer for the Bangladeshis who were shivering on Saturday night. During last year's Twenty20 Cup games, the par score at Trent Bridge was 150 with anything in the 160s hard to get. But three teams passed 180 here in the warm up games, as did India at the weekend.

Match Odds

Both teams will see this game as their best chance of a win. Bangladesh's young side are improving all the time and Twenty20 is a format that can suit their blend of mercurial batsmen and tricky spinners. Ireland, meanwhile, are the best of the associate members in this tournament. Their batting, weakened by the departure of Eoin Morgan, depends for impetus largely on the big hitting O'Brien brothers Niall and Kevin.

Their bowling is seam-dominated but tidy and supplemented by the left arm spin of Kyle McCallan and they fling themselves around wholeheartedly in the field. Bangladesh are 1.5 favourites but that is just too short a price to take about such a young and inconsistent team and Ireland look worth a punt at 3.5

Top Batsman

Niall O'Brien hit a confident 62 against South Africa in their final warm up game and should be worth a look as top Irish batsman at 4.5 or higher. For Bangladesh, Junaid Siddique was in powerful form against India and should be backed at 4.0 or better.

Chris Gayle thrash Aussies in Twenty20 World Cup 3rd Match

West Indies captain Chris Gayle again showed his liking for cricket’s shortest version with a 50-ball 88 as the West Indies thrashed Australia by seven wickets in their opening Twenty20 World Cup Group C match at Kensington Oval in London.

The West Indies chasing 170 for victory finished on 172 for three with more than fours overs to spare.

Gayle got good support from Andre Fletcher 53, in an opening stand of 133.

Xavier Marshall went for eight while Shivnarine Chanderpaul yet to score and Ramnaresh Sarwan unbeaten on eight struck the winning run.

Earlier Jerome Taylor, Fidel Edwards and Dwayne Bravo each had two wicket hauls, as Australia recovered from two for three in the first over to post 169 for seven.

David Warner top scored with 63 for the Aussies.

After their miserable test and one day series against England, West Indies skipper Gayle says it was just the start they wanted.

achieved the target in just 17 overs with the loss of only one wicket.

Rohit Sharma smashed 9 fours and two huge sixes in his inning of 80 runs, he was finally dismissed in the 16^th over by 17 year fast bowler Mohammad Aemer. However when he got out the task for India was much easier with 19 runs needed of last four overs. M.S.Dhoni played some lovely drive in end to finish the match in 17 overs.

This win continued the India winning streak in World Cup against Pakistan. They have never lost a single game to Pakistan in the world cup. In the last world cup also they have played twice with Pakistan and came out as winner on both occasions.

Now India will take on Bangladesh in their first game of twenty20 World Cup on 6^th of June at Trent Bridge.

Earlier Pakistan Captain Younis Khan won the toss and elected to bat first. But Praveen Kumar strikes with his fifth bowl to dismissed Shahzaib Hasan for duck. However Pakistan batsman continues the counter attack from both ends. With Ahmed Shehzad smashing 25 runs of just 19 balls and Kamran Akmal getting 19 runs of just 9 deliveries. Both put on 43 runs of just 22 balls for the second wicket. But brilliant fielding by Suresh Raina sent Akmal back in the pavilion.

After Akmal dismissal Pakistan loss two quick wickets of both Shehzad and Afridi (0 run of 1 ball), so score of 45/1 in the fifth over suddenly slipped to 45/4 at the end of 6^th over. But Thanks to Younis Khan (32 runs of 32 balls) and Misbah-Ul-Haq (37 runs of 30 balls) and in the end some great hitting by Yasir Arafat (25 runs of 16 balls) Pakistan reached a comparative total of 158/6 in 20 overs.

Once again Indian bowlers failed to bowl good line and length in the depth overs. They conceded as many as 45 runs in the last four overs to allow Pakistan to reach a decent total.

Injured Flintoff will not play ICC T20

Injured Flintoff will not play ICC T2o World Cup

England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff will not play in ICC T20 World Cup starting from 5th June in England.

Flintoff was unable to recover from knee injury he received while playing a match for Chennai Super Kings in Indian Premier League.

The ECB chief medical officer, Nick Peirce said that Flintoff is fastly recovering from the injury and there is no pain or in his knee.

Peirce further added that Flintoff will be fit for Ashes Series to be played against Australia starting from 8th July.

Yorkshire's Adil Rashid, a batting leg-spinner will replace Flintoff in England squad for ICC T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, it is an excellent opportunity for Rashid to prove himself in this international form of Cricket.
